Farewell to Housetalk
©2006 - 2009 Pete Sessa & Associates, Inc.
Hey Everyone,As a result of the rather large volume of emails I have received, and my inability to answer a fair number of them, I wanted to post this on my web site.
First, let me say "Thanks so much, to everyone" for the kind and remarkably thoughtful comments you all have made. Taking time out of your busy schedules to ask and share stories with me, has been heartwarming. You all made Housetalk fabulously interesting.
Secondly, I am tickled that I was able to stay on WNIS for 17 years when I really should only been on for 17 minutes.
I, absolutely, have no regrets. I only have regrets about the things I never pursued.
Third. Bob Sinclair, Lisa Sinclair, Tony Macrini, Dave Morgan, Jay West, Ginger Power and Julie Drewey and a host of others made it possible for me to bring Housetalk into your homes first on Saturday and then on Sunday mornings, since 1991. They were always helpful and always fair.
Fourth. I can't say enough about my sponsors over the years. They have been most generous, not to mention tolerant in their support of Housetalk .
Please keep Gary Reily at Contract Carpet Sales in mind if you need flooring or carpet.
OMT Enterprises is who you should call for door and window replacement hardware.
Comet Plumbing on Cleveland Street near Pembroke, is the very best place to get plumbing fixtures, fittings and just plain old good advice. Patrick and the other fine people there are a great source of information in this trade. Test drive one of those Toto Toilets and tell them I sent you there, to do just that!
Without a doubt, A-1 Termite and Pest Control has been a remarkable resource for me in the field of critters we just don't want to be in our living areas or under the house. They are truly remarkable, professional, straight forward and just a nice company to work with. Karen and Bill Pye always went the extra mile for me and always took time to help me navigate through changes in pesticide applications to identifying bugs that no one else could do.
Though their charitable efforts, alone, they make Hampton Roads a better place to live.
And last. I am not a radio talk show host. I am a Dad and Professional Home Inspector. I look in people's toilets and go under their houses for a living. I do not take myself so seriously that I am all undone about getting kicked off the air. I have been kicked out of entire countries, so this is not so bad, in retrospect.
I had an idea a long time ago that seems to have worked out, pretty nicely, for almost 20 years. It was great for my business and it "opened doors" for me that, normally, would have been "permanently locked."
I am a grateful Dad. I have the two best daughters on the planet. Ashley Blake Sessa, now a graduate from the University of Alabama, is starting her professional career in Atlanta, Georgia. In spite of me, she has turned into a beautiful, young woman, with a tender heart and a tough constitution.
My youngest daughter, Anne Barrett Sessa, is a case study in never giving up. Now a Junior at Georgia State University, she has overcome a staggering learning disability. She is a "princess," that likes pastina in the mornings and Tiffany's at night. "Bear" is sweet and kind but a little grumpy when she wakes up.
All of us are Alabama football fans.
I am not sure what is next for me. Elle Rasnick, my girlfriend, surf partner and webmistress has been hounding me about writing a book. My Mom was writer. Maybe, I should do that next.
In the meantime, I am still inspecting houses and using the infrared camera as a tool to locate leaks inside the structures we live and work in. We work as consultants in new home construction, i.e., framing inspections, walk throughs and the like.
You can always call us for property inspections for houses, condos and light commercial buildings. We inspect houses for buyers and sellers alike.
DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING A HOME WITHOUT GETTING A HOME INSPECTION.
You or your agent can set up a home inspection with us. Don't let anyone talk you out of it. I have too many horror stories where some lame reason was given and believed, only to find out later........It was a BIG, COSTLY mistake!
In the meantime, I will try to answer emails but I am swamped at the moment. This is probably the best I can do without losing even more sleep or hiring a another person to respond to my emails.
Thanks again for listening to Housetalk.
Stay tuned.......I'LL BE BACK!
And........ ROLL TIDE
Pete
